creating YOUR guest list.

by this point, you hopefully have decided if you wanted a big wedding, a small wedding, or going completely the other direction and eloping! honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of these SCENARIOS, they all have their BENEFITS!

actually, as i mention benefits, lets just go through a couple really quick, cause why not.. But if your are already decided on size, skip to the next bold letters marked ‘here!’

Big weddings

  1. one of the biggest BENEFITS is you don’t have to turn as many people away. You also get to have more family and friends supporting you and cheering you on creating a fun atmosphere! small weddings you have to let people know you are going small so they aren’t invited.

  2. you will probably get more gifts… not that its about gifts, but who doesn’t like getting new things? amiright?

  3. the ‘party’ aspect of the day is DEFINITELY more hyped, and when it comes to people on the dance floor, more is always better!

small weddings + elopements

  1. we had a smaller wedding, and the thing we loved the most was it felt more intimate and relaxed.

  2. probably the biggest reason people choose small, is their budget. you can save alot of money going small. No doubt when you have a big wedding you need to make choices to accomadate more guests. Like making sure you’re venue is big enough for guests, you have enough food (and drinks) for guests, sending out all the thank yous after the wedding, etc.

  3. there is a better chance of traveling for you’re wedding. if not as many people are invited, you can travel to another state/country and most likely your family and close friends will still come!

okay, now that we have our size narrowed down a bit, lets start on that guest list!

create your guest list.

we gave you some questions below to help you narrow down the people that you as a couple have to decide whether they are going to be a part of your day or not. so as we go through people, ask yourself these questions to help. it

so lets Start with people you couldn’t imagine celebrating without. immediate family and your closest friends that basically count as family, and then you add grandparents. after that, your list will get very big very fast once you start adding aunts and uncles and extended family to the list. people will add plus ones and kids and on and on. and remember... all those are most likely doubled because there are two of you getting married ;)

  1. have you seen them at least twice in the last year?

  2. do you have a relationship with them, or just an acquaintance?

  3. also put, are they your friend, or someone else’s friend (example: your parents friends, siblings friends etc.)

  4. are you inviting them just for the gifts they’ll bring?

  5. can you imagine your day without this person?

These are by no means the only way of deciding on guests, and this by no means determines your final list. you can always change and invite more people.

but!!

once you invite somenoe, it’s pretty impossible to un-invite them.
