FIRST LOOK(S)
When you hear first look, you normally think of you and your soon to be husband! But there are a lot of different first looks that can be anything from super fun/make you laugh to real tear-jerkers!
We will briefly go through some of the looks and why you should or shouldn't do them!! First, lets see all the different kind of first looks!
Note: Some of you may have lost loved ones on this list that can't be at your wedding, don't let that discourage you! Instead, make the most out of the other significant people on this list!
with the girls
with your nieces
with your grandma
with your grandpa
with your dad
& with your spouse
So let’s start with first look with the girls (most cases this means bridesmaids)!! This one is always a really fun one to start with. Especially if you have some very animated friends 🤪 this one will be full of laughs and smiles and maybe a couple tears. Only reason you may not choose to do this one, is some brides love getting ready for their day with their bridesmaids there to support them. But, you can choose to do everything from hair to make-up with the girls, and the have them leave for a couple minutes while you get into the dress!
Second let's cover the nieces. This can sometimes be the flower girls. This one is just hands down adorable, that's all. If you have any amount of nieces that you are around enough that they will feel comfortable around you, then this is a must! The pictures are always so fun and a really fun memory to have to look back on for you and your nieces!
Next is grandma! 👵 This one can definitely shed some tears! But depending on your relationship with your grandma, it can be a moment where she gets to tell you how beautiful you look and how she has enjoyed watching you turn into a young lady! Its also a time, to tell your grandma how much you appreciate her and that she is able to be there for your special day!
Grandpa first look is probably the least common on this list, but by no means does it mean it's not important. If you choose to do this one, it really will just depend on your relationship with them. It will be a lot like your first look with a grandma if you chose to do that. You also can have the option of having both grandparents there at the same time. Just don't forget your other set of grandparents if you do this one! 🙈
First looks with the dads. Well, this one almost always sheds tears, even to the manliest of men. I've seen fathers standing around laughing drinking a beer, and the moment they turn around they can help themselves from losing it. This one we will always recommend doing if you have a good relationship with your father! It also makes for some of our favorite photos at weddings as photographers!
Lastly, but most importantly, your spouse! 🤵♂️👰♀️ You will at some point in the day have a moment where you 'first look' at each other. Some couple choose to let that be down the aisle, and some choose to do it before. I can not pick which one is better, to me they are both amazing every time. There are some variations to choose if you wanted to do a first look before walking down the aisle.

Standing back to back and read vows/pray before seeing each other.
Standing on two sides of an open door holding hands first.
You walking up to him and tapping his shoulder from behind.
You can have him blindfolded waiting for you.
This list can go on and on, you get the point!
As for choosing which ones of these first looks to do, just keep in mind the time it takes to do each on of these (coordinating, doing the first look, and the time talking and having a moment with each person after) as it can take up a lot of time. So depending on how long you have your photographer for that day, just communicate with them to make a good photo schedule for the day!
We hope this gives you some fun ideas as you continue to plan your wedding day! keep your eye out for the next couple coming your way! ☺️
