All things Honeymoon!
A WEDDING INVITATION IS going to be the first glimpse into what your guests should expect on your wedding day! so you want to put some thought into it!
Wedding invitations are not the most difficult thing to figure out, however, there are DEFINITELY some things to keep in mind as you go about designing and sending them!
So lets start! 👇🏼
the first thing to think about is how long until your wedding. before you send out the actual invites, you need to send out save the dates. This will let your friends and family know not to plan any trips, or other events on this day. This can be designed fairly simple, just a picture of you two and a date. (if you don’t have any decent pictures of the two of you, it may be a good time to look into an engagement photography session!) ☺️
the ideal time to send out save the dates is anywhere from 8-10 months before your wedding day. remember these can take a couple weeks once ordered to get delivered to your door.
once you send those out, start thinking about the actual invitations you will send to all the guests. This will usually be an envelope with a couple parts to it.
a formal invite saying “so + so are formally invited to attend the wedding of so + so"..
A RSVP letter, asking your guest to rsvp by a certain date, along with either
a online address to rsvp from the internet
or a SEPARATE letter where they can check “attending” or “unable to make it” and a small envelope to send the rsvp back to you.
Not NECESSARY, but you can include a little schedule, or outline of your day so the guests can know what to expect to a certain extent.
Some other things that can be listed on these peices of paper are:
Dress code. is it a black tie event, casual, etc.
location and start time.
where you are registered at for gifts.
a spot to say if they will be bringing a plus one.
If there will be a hotel block, or a transport bus.
Some things to keep in mind as your start to design your cards.
Make sure you don’t just fit everything onto one card just to save $0.20, space it out and make sure its LEGIBLE. And make sure to use contrasting colors with your background and text. Last thing you want is aunt sally 👵🏼 not being able to read dates or the address and showing up at the wrong time, or wrong place and calling everyone during the ceremony. 😅
you don’t need a invitation for every single person, just every household.
(So if your uncle and aunt live together, they get 1 invite.)
Double check your location, dates, and times.
triple chekc your locations, dates and times.
If possible, get the return address printed right on the envelope. Trust me when we say that WRITING the same thing over, and over, and over again when something called a printer has been invented, is not the most enjoyable task. *sometimes the place you order your invites from print these for free!
get a proof before you order the whole shabang. and make sure to have multiple people check it over for you!
Once your check it over, make sure you order a couple extra. not only will you REMEMBER some last minute people you wanted to invite, but you will also want one for memory and/or for detail shots at your wedding. ☺️
you may want to order thank you’s with the rest of them, they will match, and one less thing to think about on the honeymoon!
well, i’m sure there is a lot more we could talk about with invites, and wedding details, but this should be enough to get you started! 🎉
