How to plan a TIMELESS wedding.

Now that we have been doing weddings for some years, we have realized something.. Every year the trends are completely different!

Which got us thinking, how do you plan (or in our case, capture) a wedding that one day when your kids are old enough to look through your wedding album, they awww, rather than lol. we’ve all been there looking through our parents old photos and asked, “what are you wearing?!” Or for me, it was asking my dad if permed mullets were actually cool, or were you just weird? 😆

We will break down the do’s and don’ts! 👇🏼

A lot of these decisions will have to do with the details side of your wedding planning. And when we say details, we mean the decorations, color schemes, style of dress, color of tuxes, etc.

There is a balance of following the trends and the styles that are in, and also just picking styles that you like in general even if they aren’t trendy.

with all the trends every year, its hard to know which ones are going to last, and which ones wont. But We think we have found the key to a timeless, classy, elegant, beautiful wedding. and the best part is, that it’s basically just keeping it simple AND getting.. wait for it. Black tux’s.

  1. One style we love every single time we do it, is weddings that are black and white. Black tuxes have been in since tuxes were even a thing. And anytime we do it, it just makes the wedding feel so timeless and classy. There are things that you can add to customize it to make it feel more like your wedding. Such as shoe choices, deciding between a tie or bowtie, and slim fit or loose fit,

You can also add on to the black and white wedding scheme, by doing a dress code where you require your guest to be in black and white as well. We have done weddings like this and it definitely feels like a classy timeless wedding no matter the location you’re getting married.

  2. Color scheme is going to be based a lot off your personal taste, but there are definitely trends that come and go that are not timeless. 🥴 Keeping your color scheme simple and within neutral colors is never. A bad choice, but you can also add bright pops of color even if you chose to do a black and white theme day. Such as adding some bright color flowers or table decorations or backdrops.

  3. Picking a venue/church/reception plays a big part of what your day will look like as well. Since most of the pictures will be taken there, it’s important to make sure the inside, and outside has nice landscaping, decent grass, and good lighting inside. All these will effect the general feel of the photos and keeping it timeless.

  4. Ultimately, more is less. We see a lot of couples go crazy on adding so many details and little things scattered through the day.

Keep it simple, overthink the little things and go 100% on these, rather than adding so many things you don’t have time to do them all 100%.

There are ultimately so many things you can do to make your wedding day feel like yours, and we could talk forever on wedding day details and how to do them right. BUt these few things we believe are IMPORTANT in the grand scheme of wedding planning!

Hope you are ENJOYING these, be on the lookout for the next one in a couple days!
